Our First Ski Trip Together Layouts

This is a couple of 8x8 layouts of the first time my boyfriend and I went skiing together. I love that skiing is a hobby we can share!

I love the torn paper look on this layout! It reminds me of snow. I entered it in the paper tearing challenge at Frosted Designs and the distress challenge at Little Red Wagon. I also entered it in the snowflakes challenge at One Stop Craft Challenge and at KL Stampin N Scrappin. I also entered it in the Christmas challenge at Pollycraft Challenge,Belli challenge, and Papertake Weekly. The challenge at 3 Clovers was Christmas with no red or green. The Crafty Calendar Challenge was to show weather and I went snow for this one. I also entered in the Allsorts Challenge for the Christmas song, "White Christmas." The challenge at Christmas Blog Challenge was no Christmas stamps and no Christmas patterned paper. The monthly challenges at Creatalicious Challenge and Cute and Girly were for winter/Christmas projects.

I'm thinking about putting the date or some journaling underneath the picture of us together, so I will add that pic once I get it done. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Blue Christmas Without You!

Sundays are usually my lazy crafty days... that's why this is my third post today! I still have so many autumn projects I want to complete, but I couldn't resist making a quick Christmas card. I always look forward to Christmas months and months in advance- it's my favorite time of the year! My boyfriend and I are big skiers so we are both excited for ski season to begin! Here we are on our ski trip to Flagstaff, AZ this past February: I used my Cuttlebug for the snowflake and best friends embossing. I used my paper trimmer as a guide to create the embossed lines. For the flower I used the same technique I used on my first challenge, but in this case I used a different flower from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I inked the embossing and edges and added some accent dots to the sentiment with a silver gel pen. This was a simple and quick card but I thought I would still enter it in a few challenges.

• My Time To Craft- "Quick and Cute" was the challenge this week at My Time To Craft. This card was so quick and simple and I think the big handmade flower gives it that cute touch. The creative team over there are looking to add a few more crafters to the design team. I would be so happy to be a part of their wonderful blog so I put myself into the running! I know I may not have a ton of experience in the card making department but I have always loved creating something from the heart and sharing my creativity with others. There are so many amazingly talented people out there in the blog world so I am really honored just to be able to have someone consider me for their design team! Wayne Gretzky said it best, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take!" I only wish I had time to make a few more for the DT call- so hopefully they will take a look at some of my previous projects! ( :
• Cuttlebug Spot- The challenge this week was "monochromatic" and I decided to go with all blue with a little silver in the brad and the pen doodling.
• Crafty Creations- This is my second submission to the Crafty Creations site and I definitely think I followed their "Blue" challenge with this one!

Vegas Layouts Using Soda Can Embellishments

I recently scrapped some of my Las Vegas pictures from 2007...I am sooo behind on scrapbooking! Thought I would share them and share a little economical tip for embellishments. Most of us have aluminum cans around the house from soda, beer, energy drinks, etc. If you have a Cuttlebug and some dies you should try this tip out: This title "Friends" is made from aluminum cans cut with my CB alphabet dies and my Cuttlebug. (The F is not so crooked in real life it just got bent a little when I took it out of the protective sleeve)

I made the "FUN" title and the heart using my CB dies. For the F and the N I used the negative image from the FRIENDS letters I had already done. I glued the card themed punches onto the heart for a more Vegas style: All you need to do is just cut the can as shown below- BE CAREFUL not to cut yourself though! The edges can be a little sharp. Discard the top and bottom of the can and use the panel cut from the side with die cuts, embossing folders and even some punches!

I find the tall-boy style cans (like Arizona Iced Tea and some beers) are better for the large embossing folders. Here is some of the embellishments I made using my Arizona Iced Tea and Dr. Pepper cans. Some of my Dr. Pepper cans had a football style so I used the colored side instead of the silver.

I also got some insiration from the challenge at Scrap, Inspire, Create, although I didn't follow the challenge exactly! I had both a circle and texture theme and I used 3 photos per page, handmade embellishments, silver mesh ribbon, and 2 patterned papers.

Hoppy Birthday Cards with my Cuttlebug

Here are a couple of birthday cards I completed recently. I LOVE this frog die from Cuttlebug! (I use him all the time!) For this pink card I used the frog die from "GARDEN CREATURES" 2"x2" CB Die Set, The Crown from CB Kids Fairy Alphabet Die Set, the Make A Wish from the Happy Birthday CB embossing folders set. I sanded the embossed element to help it pop off the page. I used punches and a jewel for the flowers and ribbon to delineate the patterned and plain card stock.

I used my CB GARDEN CREATURES Die to cut the frog and used a lil pink scrap for the tongue. I used a CB embossing folder for the message Happy Birthday and sanded it to help make it stand out. I used the HIPPY CHICK alphabet die set for the name. I used some punches for the balloons and the stars.
I even used the embossing folders to dress up the envelopes... I'm not sure if you can mail them like this so best to use that only for hand-delivered cards! ( :
