What A Catch! Treasure Tempestwind

I hope everyone is having a great Father's Day today! I got a little crafting done this week after my new Sweet November stamp in the mail. I must give a big THANK YOU to Amy at A Thousand Sheets of paper for this gorgeous stamp along with the pearls, prima flower, ribbon, paper, glitter pen and card! I cannot believe that I actually won the blog candy Amy was hosting! As soon as I saw her beautiful mermaids I knew I would have to have one! I LOVE mermaids! The candy that Amy sent to me included the lovely Sweet November Treasure Tempestwind and Eddy rubber stamp, along with tons of other goodies! Seriously- how lucky am I? I will soon be collecting her three lovely Sweet November friends from All That Scraps!
I got the idea to have Treasure and Eddy in a bubble from Amy's card. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the white paper and to cut out the Hello greeting (from a Hello Kitty die.) I tried my hand at the cracked glass technique that is featured on the All That Scraps challenge on Treasure's tail fins. It gives her tail a nice vintage feeling, although it didn't crack as much as I wanted it to.

I also made a tattered rose from the scallop cut on the Graphically Speaking Cricut cartridge. This is my first flower in this style and I think it actually turned out pretty good!

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~Washington Irving

Mother - that was the bank where we deposited all our hurts and worries. ~T. DeWitt Talmage

A little girl, asked where her home was, replied, "where mother is." ~Keith L. Brooks

Youth fades; love droops; the leaves of friendship fall; A mother's secret hope outlives them all. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins, comrades and friends - but only one mother in the whole world. ~Kate Douglas Wiggin

I cannot forget my mother. [S]he is my bridge. When I needed to get across, she steadied herself long enough for me to run across safely. ~Renita Weems

All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother. ~Abraham Lincoln

"The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother."

Beautiful Blogger Award

Yay! My first award! I have to say thanks to Dayna at Buggin' Out for this awesome award! She is so creative and talented! I am always blown away by her layouts! I especially love her layouts of her wedding and gorgeous baby girl! Plus she is a Wisco girl so you know she's awesome! Here are the rules for this award: add a link and a note about the person who gave you this award and then pass this award on to 5 people you recently found and love. You also have to share 7 things about yourself. Easy-peasy lemon squeezy!

Here are some of the blogs that I really love!

Now for a little bit about me!

1. I graduated from University of Arizona with my doctorate in pharmacy (Pharm. D.) last year. I only made people call me Dr. Katie during the week of graduation ( : It took me six years but I had a lot fun and it was totally worth it.2. I love animals! I love all animals and I love going to zoos and aquariums. I have the sweetest yorkie who is the most loyal and smart little guy. Here he is taking his medicine after a foot injury:3. I love to travel! My favorite places to go are Maine, California, and anywhere with a beautiful beach. Living in AZ, Las Vegas is the perfect weekend trip for me. Here is a pic of David and me from one of our many Vegas trips:4. I love to ski! My dad taught me how to ski when I was a little girl and I have been going every winter ever since!5. I recently got into archery! My bf gave me a bow a few years ago and has been teaching me ever since. I love picking up new hobbies.

6. I have the most wonderful younger brother. He is smart, funny and always there for me. 7. I am a TV junkie! I love my DVR- speeding through commercials is the best. My favorites range from the high-brow, intellectually stimulating shows like Frontline, Independent Lens, Nova (basically anything on PBS!) to the guilty pleasures like 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom. I love anything that can make me laugh and I also love medical/crime shows (House, Bones, NCIS.)

Well, those are just a few things about me. Thanks for letting me share them!

Thanks again Dayna!

Welcome Spring!

Wow! It's been a while since I've posted a new project! I've been focused on my new personal blog, This Is Katie. Check it out if you have some time! I just wanted to post a few things I've been working on lately. I recently discovered the joys of digital scrapbooking. I created this little Happy Easter project:I love that the little chick is looking at us. The frame is one of the many awesome freebies at Just So Scrappy, which I found on Lori's Freebie List. These sites are amazing! The rest was added in Power Point. I am also playing along with the Easter theme at I Love Digi Challenge, Paper Play Challenges, C.R.A.F.T, Dare U 2 Digi Stamp,

I also made a VERY quick little project for a part of my friend's little girl's birthday present. I left it for the last minute so I didn't get to decorate it the way I wanted, but it did get the "how did you get that stuff in there?" response I was hoping for! If you have never made one you should! Easy and fun! Just cut a flap in the plastic 2 liter soda bottle where the label normally would be and then decorate your own paper label and cover the opening. Easy peasy! I am sharing this project at Creative Inspirations for their Anything But A Card challenge. I also wanted to share the awesome package Ann at Ann's Creative Nook sent me for winning one of her challenges. She sent me some brads, buttons, chipboard shapes, and the cutest Luau stamps! I can't wait to use these! If you have not checked out her blog, you should head on over! She always picks great challenges!

Thanks for stopping by!

Rudolph Was Here...

Happy 2010 everybody! I am back from a holiday hiatus and thought I would share this cute lil Rudolph card. He is cute from the Cricut Animal Kingdom cartridge with googly eyes and glitter glue on his nose. I did a little distressing/shading with chalks around his head and mouth.
I also used some scrap winter paper and ribbon (which says "Santa's on his way!") as well as a snowflake and heart punch. I am entering it in a few challenges:
