My First Challenge!

I found so many great challenge sites for scrapbooking/cardmaking today that I was inspired...not to mention that I am playing with my NEW CRICUT! ( : This card was originally inspired when I saw the challenge to use pink, black, and white on http://www.caardvarks.blogspot.com/. That is a favorite color combination of mine, so I thought it wouldn't be too difficult for me to come up with a quick card.

I also love the site http://pileitonchallenge.blogspot.com/, which inspired me to do more than one challenge at once. This week's challenge on PIO is "Good Things Come in 3s" so I used 3 buttons and (mostly) 3 colors.

The inspiration for the giant flower was from http://bee-crafty.blogspot.com/. Their challenge was over the top. This flower is very 3-D and really jumps off the card. It wouldn't fit in an envelope, so I think that makes it a little over the top for a card. To create this flower I used my Cricut Expression and Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge. I just cut the flower out in 5 different sizes (I used 3",2.5",2", 1.5" and 1"). I then folded each petal in half to get the dimension. I inked the edges, glued them all together, and then added the button for the center. The "love," butterflies, leaf, ,and flourish are all from the Cricut Home Decor Cartridge.

The last inspiration that I got from all these wonderful scrapper challenge site was from http://abc-challenge.blogspot.com/. This challenge was "B for Buttons." I used a large black button for the center of my flower and two small white buttons for embellishments.

WooHoo! I am officially addicted to challenges! ( :

Hoppy Birthday Cards with my Cuttlebug

Here are a couple of birthday cards I completed recently. I LOVE this frog die from Cuttlebug! (I use him all the time!) For this pink card I used the frog die from "GARDEN CREATURES" 2"x2" CB Die Set, The Crown from CB Kids Fairy Alphabet Die Set, the Make A Wish from the Happy Birthday CB embossing folders set. I sanded the embossed element to help it pop off the page. I used punches and a jewel for the flowers and ribbon to delineate the patterned and plain card stock.
I used my CB GARDEN CREATURES Die to cut the frog and used a lil pink scrap for the tongue. I used a CB embossing folder for the message Happy Birthday and sanded it to help make it stand out. I used the HIPPY CHICK alphabet die set for the name. I used some punches for the balloons and the stars.
I even used the embossing folders to dress up the envelopes... I'm not sure if you can mail them like this so best to use that only for hand-delivered cards! ( :

Holiday Cards: Christmas and Easter

These were my first batch of home made Christmas cards. I love the look of stamp hot embossed!

This is a Easter basket card with embossing/shapes from the Cuttlebug and strips of green paper cut with decorative edge scissors. I used glitter and rick-rack to decorate the eggs.

My Cards

These are some of my earlier card attempts. I have been a scrapbooker for many years, but just recently got into card-making.

For these little bugs I used an old stencil and paper-pieceing techniques, my Cuttlebug for embossing and my Couzzle for the word "Mine."
